Derbyshire bus and coach operator, Felix of Ilkeston, has ceased operation of its holiday tour programme. The firm's final tour returned last Friday, 25 January. The company claim operational costs being too high to sustain decent financial returns from their holidays.
Felix are continuing their extensive day tours and their fleet remains available for private and contract hire - hires can be longer than one day.
Meanwhile the company continues to operate its two main inter-urban bus services: The Ilkeston Flyer, linking Ilkeston-Derby direct via Kirk Hallam and The Black Cat, linking the same two extremities via West Hallam and extending north within Ilkeston to the nearby Community Hospital.
The operator recently lost out to local firm Doyles, who took over operation of service 59 in September 2007, lowering the firm's PVR by two Optare Solos, which Felix continue to own.
