Trivia

**Amended at 2346hrs to save ambiguity**

The Editors' 'respec' will be given to anyone and everyone who is able to answer the following piece of railway trivia we found quite amusing:

One train operating company maintains a *sole* station somewhere in England where no passenger service it operates calls.

Any ideas? Answer on Monday (or via the comments section because we know how knowledgeable rail enthusiasts are).

All of the following stations are only served by CrossCountry, but all operated by other companies:

Manea! NXEA operated, but only CrossCountry stop there (two trains each way, by request, naturally).

What a sentence!!

"One train operating company maintains a *sole* station somewhere in England where no passenger service it operates calls."

Don't you mean:

"Name the one rail station maintained by a train operating company whose own services do not call there"

or

"What is the name of the unique rail station maintained by a TOC but which does does not see any trains operating by that TOC"

Going to have to go for Lockerbie then, as there are loads operating by other companies with only CrossCountry stopping.

Lockerbie is operated by First ScotRail (none of their trains stop), although First Transpennie Express stop, so not sure if it counts as they're both part of FirstGroup. ;p

Lockerbie isn't in England though....

Aside from those mentioned above FGW operate Dean station, which is only served by SWT services.

Is this a trick question?

Is this about Stratford International?

I work for East Midlands Trains and we maintain 5 stations we which do not operate any trains on those lines, never mind stop at them. These are South Wigston, Narborough, Hinckley, Burton-on-Trent and Willington. The first three stations are served by Cross Country on their Birmingham - Leicester - Stansted Airport service and the other two Cross Country's Cardiff - Nottingham service.
