The line from Inverness to the Kyle of Lochalsh reopened at 1800hs on 24 November.
It had been closed since 19 November following a landslip which derailed the 1523 First Scotrail service from Aberdeen via Inverness. The leading carriage remained upright after it struck 200 tonnes of mud and rubble, and there were no injuries to the 9 passengers and 2 members of rail staff on board.
Passengers were taken off the train and walked to Stromeferry station a mile down the line. (Photo: LEYTR) (PW)
