To ease the possibility of overcrowding on Bank Holiday Monday, East Midlands trains hired the use of two West Coast Railway locomotives and coaching stock. These worked an additional 1E27 service from Nottingham at 1020 to Skegness, returning from there to Nottingham as 1M34 at 1430. The locomotives used were 47787 and 17851 working "top & tail".
