National Express disruptions

At 1pm today, the National Express website's coach section stated the following:

Due to the extreme winter weather, we are currently unable to serve the following stops:

Barnsley, Bakewell, Belper, Buxton, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Matlock Bath, Matlock, Meadowhall, Meadowhead, Rotherham, Sheffield, Wadebridge.

Stops between Westward Ho! and Barnstaple are also inaccessible.

It's very rare indeed for the UK's flagship coach operator to fail to serve localities such as Sheffield and Mansfield. A sign, if any were needed, of just how bad the recent inclement weather is. Tomorrow's notifications are likely to include most localities normally served along the M4 Corridor.

NX coach passengers are currently being offered free ticket amendments and for passengers wishing to travel to the places currently un-serviceable, coaches will call at Derby, Nottingham and Leeds railway stations to offer onward rail connections.
