A major fire has gutted the signal box at Gainsborough Lea Road. Two fire engines attended the scene just after 1800hs yesterday and it took nearly an hour to extinguish the flames.The signal box was built in c1877. No decision has yet been made as to its future.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
