Below is a list of Train Operating Companies (TOCs) and a corresponding performance percentage. The first column shows the Moving Annual Average (MAA) covering the year ending 26 April 2008; the column to the right of this, separated by a forward slash, is the figure for the first 4 weeks to the end of 26 April 2008.

86.0% / 85.4% - Virgin Trains
90.0% / 93.1% - TOTAL all TOCs
Only one operator's performance worsened towards the end of the year - Virgin Trains - and the TOC with the most improved score was First Great Western, increasing by 7 percentage points. It could be argued that FGW's performance had been so poor throughout 2007 that the only direction for the firm to go was up.
13 of the 20 TOCs achieved performance of at least 90%.
Taking the MMA percentage (for the entire year ending 28 April 2008), Chiltern Railways scored highest, with Merseyrail coming in second - overtaking c2c for this position.
Taking the second column, for this period all but NXEC and Virgin achieved at least a 90% performance, sparking some statisticians into claiming the UK is seeing its best ever rail performance. The average performance for this period is 93.1% for all operators - 0.5% higher than the government's 92.6% performance by 2014.
