North East Lincolnshire Council, one of the smallest unitary authorities in England, has agreed a start date for the removal of the pre-0930 and post-2300 restrictions for free concessionary travel in its area. From 2 June 2008 those traveling with the new style concessionary bus pass baring the NELC logo will be entitled to travel for free on any local bus service within the council's boundary, joining the likes of Hull City and neighbouring North Lincolnshire.
NELC had always allowed free concessionary travel at any time when the local free scheme was implemented in 2006 and so when the national scheme superseded this two years later came in for a lot of criticism by local residents when the national time restriction was adopted.
