The second day of the East Midlands Trains conductor's strike went ahead yesterday. Similar to the previous week, trains services between Grimsby and Newark, Peterborough and Lincoln and Nottingham and Norwich were replaced by buses, and trains operating between Lincoln and Nottingham.
This week a limited service of trains operated from Nottingham to Skegness (0850, 0950, 1450, 1550), and from Skegness to Nottingham (1132, 1332, 1732, 1821).
Again, a fleet of replacement coaches was sourced from around the Stagecoach network, the following being noted at Skegness:
P156 ASA - Stagecoach Western Scottish
WLT 447 - Stagecoach Fife
R120 OPS - Stagecoach Fife
YM02 CLY - Stagecoach Yorkshire
YM02 CLZ - Stagecoach Yorkshire
N551 VDC - Stagecoach Teeside
R424 XFC - Stagecoach Oxford
Of particular interest was 53319 (SV08 DHZ) from Stagecoach in Caithness! Allocated to Wick depot, 576.4 miles by road! As reported previously in this blog, Wick was once in the Rapsons operating area and the company was taken over by Stagecoach last month. Two photographs of 53319 at Skegness bus station can be seen below (please click on picture for a full size version).
