The once familiar icon of London, the Routemaster bus, is set to take to the streets of Nottingham!
From 7 April, Bellamy Coaches will use Routemasters to operate a six day service between the city and Arnold via Sherwood and Carrington. This will be known as service 20 and will start at Parliament Street in the city, running from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, every 20 minutes. On Saturdays the service will run every 30 minutes, from 7am until 5.30pm.
Director Karina Murray commented, "The buses are part of the British heritage. People always remember the older buses, but this was something that faded out in the 80s and 90s. We wanted to put Nottingham back on the map and reintroduce the buses on a regular service. Research has found buses with a driver and conductor could provide a more efficient service. Passengers do not have to wait to pay the driver, therefore getting on and off is much quicker and the bus is not stationary for long periods."
The company will also be using the buses for day trips to Crich Tramway Village, Home of the National Tramway Museum on May 25 and 29.
